This photograph taken in the late 1930s, just before the outbreak of the Second World War, was kindly supplied by Essie Clark. The most recent building shown is the first part of Lawrence Road, and King’s Road. There was no South Meadows, Orchard Close, no doctor’s surgery on the glebe - indeed, no building there at all. The railway line runs diagonally across and up from the BLHC.                                       The thumbnails show parts of this photograph in closer detail.
