There’s that moment of horror as a plate or dish from a favourite dinner or tea service slips to the
floor with a sickening crash, and it’s - of course - a discontinued line ! Or maybe you’re always on
the look out for something to add to that collection of whatnots which is your personal passion.
Wrington residents Chris and Trevor Parnham have been so successful in finding missing
patterns and items that they’ve built up an impressive internet customer base from Australia to
Accrington, from Oklahoma to Okehampton - and now at The Treasury, High Street, Wrington.
They’re expanding into part of the premises previously occupied by environmental consultants,
Sustain. This means local customers have the advantage of direct and personal help in finding
what they’re searching for. Chris and Trevor will also help people dispose of good quality items
either by buying from them, or, on a 50/50 basis selling them on.
As they were building up their overseas market, they were delighted to find a reliable Bristol-based
carrier whose highly competitive rates meant they could keep the cost to their customers to a
minimum. They now act as local agents, enabling others to benefit from lower carriage prices.
On display in The Treasury is an original poster advertising the sale in 1865 of the Old Bell Inn,
Broad Street, Wrington - most recently known as Richards Garage. The poster describes the
business of ‘Common Carrier’ run from there by one Mr George Porter. Following the closure of
Richards Garage that land is being developed for housing, but Chris and Trevor are happy to be
picking up the Porter tradition, albeit after an interval of 144 years ! Watch out for their grand
opening evening shortly.
