Current entry in the Village Journal   Captains’ Day We celebrated the beginning of the season with our annual Captains Day on the 7th April. This year Debbie Baker will lead the ladies team with Peter Bourell looking after the men. Our captains have a lot of additional responsibilities and we wish them both well over the coming season. Club Open Days Held on the 14th/15th April our Club Open Days attracted some welcome interest de-spite the mixed weather. We are pleased to report that 7 of the attendees indicated their interest in joining the Club and we hope these individuals will be signing up very soon. It’s an old persons’ game….. Sure is! The Australian team touring the UK in July have an average age of 23 and includes members of the Australian Women’s Fours Commonwealth games gold winners. Family Cup Our first interclub tournament the ‘Family Cup’ took place on the 29th April. Despite some big names being absent, the day saw some very competitive bowling. The final will be contested in September with Valerie & Peter Bourell taking on Valerie Yeoman & Dave Reynolds. 2017 Season April & May are very busy for us with a good mix of league, friendly and inter club fix-tures. Our Ladies league team commenced their season with a home game against Nailsea and despite their best efforts, lost the match. The men’s league team do not commence battle until the 12th May with a fixture away to Portishead. Players Needed As always we are always looking for new members. In particular we are keen to strengthen our ladies league team. If you are interested please call us and we will put you in touch with one of the Captains. If you want to just ‘have a go’ why not come along to one of our Tuesday Club sessions which start at 5.45pm. Andy and Wendy Tandy01934 863684

Wrington Bowling Club plays all the year round on its all-weather carpet. The Club opened for outdoor play in 2000 (see Archive). The carpet was renewed in 2012, and its speed now more closely matches that of grass. New Members and guests of all ages are always welcome. Please come along and try your hand at the game. Club equipment is available. During the summer season we run a weekly triples competition at 6pm on Tuesday evenings, and there is usually an informal roll-up at 6 pm on Friday evenings. Over the winter, the triples competition takes place on Wednesday afternoons and the roll-up on Saturday afternoons.
