In May, Shirley Hodgson gave us an illustrated talk on the story of "The Formidable", an early 19th century warship that was moored off Portishead and used for many years as an industrial school for poor and homeless boys - an unusual and fascinating story. At our meeting on 21 July, Victoria Bowerman will be speaking to us about the subject of researching local history through old maps. We meet at 8pm. at the URC Chapel. Everyone welcome.
