Match Report WRINGTON-REDHILL 3 GLASTONBURY TOWN 2 Wednesday 24th July An enthralling game of football was enjoyed by another large crowd keen to witness Wrington-Redhill’s 1st team squad in action. Manager Smith has added shrewdly to last season’s 7th-placed squad and looks to have found a strong well balanced group. A dominant Wrington fell behind through a defensive error by Joe Wheadon who had an excellent game otherwise. Glastonbury’s second certainly a candidate for goal of the season, as a sweetly struck shot guided itself into the top right had corner of Mark Wilsons net .. from all of 40yds !. The second half saw some sublime skills by the home side drawing large applause from the appreciative and knowledgeable following. Goals from young Cheeseman, Chris Bradley and Joe Berry, confirmed Wrington-Redhill’s dominance . Wrington-Redhill now turn their attention to Saturday, entertaining EARLSWOOD TOWN (Midland Combination Premier Division) at the rec KO 2.30pm . ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Match Report WRINGTON-REDHILL 0 SALTFORD 0 Saturday 27th April Wrington-Redhill FC faced Saltford in a intense game that finished in a goal-less draw. Wrington took the upper hand early, forcing Saltford keeper, Wes Taynton, to pull off some class saves. But the tide changed 20 minutes in, when Wrington-Redhill's Callum Fischer was sent off after the referee deemed him to be the last man after fouling Marcus Smith. The rest of the half was filled with class build up play and even better defending. The second half however produced many more goal scoring opportunities as both teams opened up more while looking for a goal. The first great chance went to Saltford's Dave Gamble, who was put through one to one with the keeper, Mark Wilson, but couldn't slot it past. Wrington-Redhill had one of their best chances when Craig Burchill's shot was well saved by Wes Taynton, and the deflection just didn't find Graham Cheeseman's head. From then on it was all Wrington- Redhill as they took control. Wrington-Redhill's Chris Bradley was put through on goal, but could only poke it wide. Then, in the best chance of the game, Craig Burchill's corner found Chris Bradley's head, whose header hit the bar, bounced down and was cleared. There was a huge roar as Wrington-Redhill players were adamant that it had crossed the line, but no goal was given. It was the away team, Frys Club, who came out victors, winning 1-0 in a tight, if dull, game. The game started tight, with both teams matching each other’s every move, and the most likely source of a goal seemed to be from a spillage from Wrington-Redhill's keeper, Fadi Saadi, who was struggling to catch anything. But the deadlock was broken on the 25th minute mark when Fry's James Laver found Tom Punsau and he took advange when Wrington-Redhill's Callum Fisher gave him space, cutting in and slotting the ball past Fadi. But Wrington-Redhill had a chance to bounce back when Graham Cheeseman's flick on found Curis Bradley, who missed awfully from 3 yards. The half time break came and went and the second half entered a stage of both teams unable to open the other. Add to that the constant stoppage of play due to a free kick, the half never really got started. But with 6 minutes to go, Wrington-Redhill got their big chance. Bel Rickets found Graham Cheeseman, who nodded it down to Curis Bradley, who shot at the gaping goal. But Frys keeper, Sam Lewis, came out of nowhere to pull off a wonderful save. Despite a late push from Wrington-Redhill, nothing else happened. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Match ReportWRINGTON-REDHILL FC 4 BURNHAM UNITED 0 Saturday 13th April Wrington-Redhill FC faced Burnham United in a game crucial to Wrington's promotion hopes. It turned out to be a walk in the park for Wrington Redhill FC as they came out 4-0 victors. In a game of very few chances, Wrington were clinical when called upon. Little happened in the first half, with a few speculative shots here and there, but the only real chance came at 40mins, and was finished off by Graham Cheeseman to make it 1-0. Chris Bradley's through ball found Graham, who managed to wrestle his way through two defenders and poke the ball under the keeper, William Lamb. They didn't have to wait long for their second as Richard Lucas's cross found Graham Cheeseman, who powered it into the net just seconds after the second half kick off. Only 7 minutes later they scored their third with Graham finishing his hat-trick with a header from Craig Burchill's corner. Cheeseman was again involved in a fourth goal, when Burnham were caught sleeping after he got subbed off for Mick Edwards. Jake Murray's quick freekick found Craig Burchill, who dribbled round James Caward and slotted it past the keeper. Wrington Redhill the rode out the game. Full Time, 4-0.
