And rain was the name of the game at the Rec for the 3rd year’s memorial event for Mickey Ball by Wrington Cricket Club
and their invited guests. Nevertheless, as these photos, kindly supplied by Kim Fowler, prove, everyone who took part -
teams and individuals alike - had an enormous amount of fun.

Veterans’ captain John Ledbury departs after opening the innings against the Wrington Under 13 youngsters, to be replaced by Giles Clarke A sprightly Ken Broad, sporting grandson Stuart’s England shirt, retires after an entertaining knock. Ken Broad strides through the welcoming tunnel following his innings The Wrington Barmy Army secures the prime (dry) viewing site. Bob Edmunds rolls back the years for the Veterans. Giles Clarke is greeted by the Barmy Army John Ledbury gathers together the Veteran players for an inspirational pre-match team talk. Chris Tarr shows that he has lost none of his accuracy as he bowls to an Under 13 batsman, with an alert John Avery behind the stumps. Action on the field provides amusement for the Barmy Army as umpire Trevor Crowe enjoys well-earned refreshment They also participate .. who only sit and stare ... The welcoming committee!!
