One of the annual highlights of our village calendar, Wrington Youth Week 2012, was another great success and, luckily, was a rare summer event that didn't fall victim to the weather this year. As always the vibe in the village was great, with children happily occupied at the Pavilion and recreation ground, the Chapel, the Memorial Hall, and a host of other local and more far-flung venues. In all 108 activity sessions were provided throughout the week, and all the events were well attended. A huge amount of planning and preparation goes into making Youth Week a success, so it is very rewarding to see our younger generation making the most of what's on offer, as well as parents mucking in and providing support. The committee is very grateful to all those fantastic people who gave up time to assist during the week, from activity leaders to minibus drivers - it couldn't happen without you all! Our sincere thanks too to all the organisations and individuals who hosted or ran activities; your tuition and enthusiasm plays a huge and vital part in our week. The Youth Week committee is always interested to hear from residents who would like to help, whether by joining the committee or by making yourself available during the week itself. If you'd like to get involved, please contact Ian Withers, 2013 Committee Chair, on 862137. The first meeting of the 2013 committee will be in January.
