Wrington Parish Council’s Annual Parish Meeting held in the Memorial Hall, and attended by c.30 parishioners. In addition to the regular annual business, presentations were made, and questions received, by: Doug Barker and Katharine Diver, manager and member respectively of the NSC Risk Management Team, on The Wrington flood relief scheme; a holding pond is due to be created in April 2017. Shail Patel of a residents’ group, The Wrington Village Alliance, on Rural Development: concerns and objectives related to development pressures; specific concerns included insufficient school places and provision given the prospect of academies. David Glynn, Parish Council Chairman, introducing public consultation on A proposed highways scheme for School Road/High Street/Silver Street. Primary concerns include the safety of pedestrians, the dire quality of driving including by locals, and roadside parking and jams. NSC reports made by Cllr Deborah Yamanaka, and Jeff Shipway, NSC Area Officer (road maintenance, drains, litter, &c) Reports from local organisations: Richard Thorn - Wrington Parish Charities; Gabrielle Wilson - Legg’s Charity; and David Simpson, Wrington Twinning Association.
